MEET TYTANNIE

Tytannie M. Harris, LCSW, is a Chicago-based founder, organizational strategist, and licensed psychotherapist dedicated to expanding access to mental health services and building organizations that strengthen communities. Born and raised in the historic Robert Taylor and Dearborn Homes on the South Side of Chicago in the Bronzeville community, Tytannie’s early life experiences shaped her deep understanding of the challenges faced by under-resourced populations and ignited her lifelong commitment to service.

After the unexpected loss of her father, Tytannie and her siblings entered the foster care system when she was just ten years old. Navigating residential facilities, group homes, and transitional programs throughout her youth, she developed a resilience and perspective that would later shape both her personal and professional mission. These experiences ultimately led her to pursue a career dedicated to helping others navigate trauma, adversity, and healing.

Today, Tytannie is the founder and CEO of TMH Behavioral Services, a behavioral health clinic and group mental health practice serving individuals and families across the Chicago area. Under her leadership, TMH has grown into a trusted provider of culturally relevant , healing-centered mental health services, supporting clients as they pursue lasting change and emotional wellness.

In addition to her clinical work, Tytannie founded TMH MANCAVE, a nonprofit organization focused on reducing the stigma surrounding mental health among Black men and boys by creating safe and brave spaces for dialogue, healing, and community support.

Tytannie is also the visionary behind Tina’s Home, a transitional living program designed to support young women aging out of the foster care system. Inspired by her own experiences, Tina’s Home will provide housing stability, life skills, and mentorship to young women navigating the path toward independence. She holds a Master of Social Work from Loyola University Chicago and has over 15 years of experience as a psychotherapist. Tytannie was also the inaugural recipient of the WNBA Chicago Sky Back to Business Bootcamp and is a graduate of the Chicago Urban League IMPACT Leadership Program. In honor of her late grandmother, Annie Harris, whose generosity profoundly shaped her life, Tytannie established The Annie Harris Gift Back Grant, an initiative that provides financial support to Black-owned small businesses.

Tytannie’s work is guided by a simple but powerful philosophy:

“I am who I needed.”

Her life’s mission is to build the support systems, opportunities, and pathways that she once needed herself ensuring that the next generation has access to the resources, representation, and care they deserve.
